Follow up on Playtex Sportfresh testing from Influenster

Just a recap... I opened the box and was smacked in the face by intense fragrance that was waaaay to overwhelming for me. I don't know how i feel about putting all that perfume in my lady bits.  Giving Playtex the benefit of the dought I figured I'd open up one and take a sniff (man that's weird sounding, I know but I want to be thorough!). I was pleasantly surprised that the smell is considerably less on the tampon itself (phew!), not sure I needed my lady bits emitting THAT much fragrance... As far as "performance" goes I usually stick with my preferred brand, but these worked just as well the ones I normally use.

Spring Fling Voxbox

#GotItFree @influenster #springvoxbox

Hash tags here? Who knows, but I did it any way!

Ok, so after months of waiting I finally got another voxbox!! this is the Spring Fling Voxbox.  Opening up the box I received for free (for free?! Yup that's right, FOR FREE!) this is what I got to test out and spread the word about:

Rimmel London Scandaleyes retro Glam Masacra: "the 60's are back in full swing with a thicker, fuller, wide-eyed look! Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara brings you a bold, wide-eyed look, fanned out volume, and no clumps for lashes that are up, out, and over the top!"
Ok, so here is my before and after

not too shabby right?  It did make my lashes fuller, longer, and MOSTLY clump free (I'm a little ocd about separating my eye lashes, so i pulled the minimal clumps out with separating).

Next up:  Kiss everlasting French Nails: "the ultimate French manicure that never chips--guaranteed. rich, white smile line looks like you just left the salon; file to any shape with no tip wear. Available in flat and regular nail arches with Flex-Fit Technology to ensure ultra comfort and a perfect fit."
here's my before and after

They look awesome and were super easy to use! That's coming from a no frills lady who's never used press on nails before!  I love that they're short and not so long that I can't type! they felt awkward at first, but the more I type with them the more I'm getting used to them. I'll keep you posted on how long they last. I'm not gentle with my hands so lets see if they can withstand scalding water washing baby bottles and typing everyday for a living.

Nex up: Peach Pie Car Freshener from the Labor day Movie: "Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin star in Labor Day from Academy award-nominated directed Jason Reitman. Enjoy this sweet treat from Paramount Pictures in honor of the home entertainment release of Labor Day, available now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD for $19.99)"

The freshener is very nice smelling.  Definitely not overpowering or obnoxious, just enough peachy yumminess to make your taste buds go wild and drool just a little bit, lol!

Next up: Playtex Sport Fresh Balance Tampons: "Introducing NEW Playtex Sport Fresh Balance with Odor Shield technology. It's designed to neutralaize odors for ultimate freshness on and off the f ield. combined with a 360 design for Sport Level Protection, you can go the distance. Play on!"

I'm a little skeptical about this one here... I opened the box and was bashed in the face by an intense fragrance that is waaaay to overwhelming for me. I don't know how i feel about putting all that perfume in my personal place like that.  To give Playtex a little credit I figured I'd open up one and take a sniff (man that's weird sounding, I know but I want to be thorough!). I was pleasantly surprised that the smell is considerably less on the tampon itself (phew!), not sure I needed my lady bits emitting so much fragrance... I'll try it out when that time of the month comes and keep you posted.

Lastly: Nivea Skin Firming Hyddration Lotion: "Get your skin ready for warm weather with Nivea Skin Firming Hydration Lotion. in as l ittle as 2 weeks, you'll see firmer, more toned skin!"

I haven't used it for 2 weeks yet, so I'll just go into the basics. It has a mild-moderate strength fragrance.  I'm not one for smelly things (see review of tampons above, teehee!) so I am trying to be open minded. After rubbing it in, it absorbed pretty quick and seems to look like a little goes a long way.  After a few minutes the smell is almost gone just leaving a hint of smell (which I like better) and it doesn't feel greasy which is definitely a plus! I hate trying things and then having to wait to get dressed... Life is all about convenience and having to stand in your underwear because you put on a lotion or something and having to wait before you can get dressed is not on my list of needs, so quick absorption and the ability are a must and this Nivea lotion does the trick.  I'm not sure how much it will "firm up" my skin, but I'll give it a go!

I do have to admit that I was sad that I wasn't included in the "select few" who would get to try out the Softlips Cube. Oh well, maybe next time!

Bzzagent post

<img src="https://img.bzzagent.com/image/coppertone.jpg?Type=activity&Activity=4132842102&Campaign=3862338196&Uid=1621547&token=2c1d1bdad7c195ba143604348fea5383" alt=""/>

Bzzagent sent me some coppertone clearlysheer sunscreens to try!  They were pretty awesome! The aerosol spray on was a little harsh smelling at first but once you rub it in it's not bad at all. The lotion smell is great! So light an airy.  And they both absorb quickly without being sticky or greesy feeling. Another bonus is, I've been using it for about a week now on my face and i haven't broken out! I'm amazed at that. I usually pray my makeup with spf15 is enough and try not to get my face wet, now I'll just jump on in!

Bzzagent sends me products FOR FREE to try out and spread the word! I also get coupons to dish out!

My biggest parent pet peeve

I'm a new parent and there is one phrase that will never come out of my mouth...

"You won't understand because you don't have kids"

And any variations of that, including but not limited to

"You don't understand because you don't have a child the same age", "babysitting doesn't count"
"Just wait til you have your own"

This list could go on an on, but i think you get the picture. These phrases really irk me because i had baby sat for years and really learned a great deal. I do understand some aspects are different since i didn't have the child 24/7 but you can def get a feel for what parents do and what works or doesn't work. Don't be so judgmental to "non-parents" advice too because you never know what kind of experience they have with kids, could be friends kids, godchildren, nieces, nephews, babysitting, teaching, ect.

I nearly lost my lid having a discussion with a friend because I wouldn't understand because i don't have kids... Well i call bullshit because you're trying to tell me that because (at the time) i don't have any offspring that i can't feel empathy as a mom would or i don't know what in talking about because though i babysat regularly i don't have children of my own... So what youre trying to say is that those psychos out there killing their children, throwing them in dumpsters, leaving them out to die, abuse them, or driving their minivan into the ocean would know better than me just because they have children? Pffft... If i lived a sheltered life where i grew up an only child and was home schooled and never met another child my entite life, then yes i can understand someone saying "you've never been around children so you might not undersrand" but seriously, experience is more important than physically having a child on whether or not advice can be given.

And it's all a matter of opinion anyway! What worked for me and the kids i babysit may not work for "jane doe" and her kids but maybe it might help jane figure out a plan of attack and adapt what worked and didn't work for baby doe into something that WILL work for baby doe.

Now I'm not saying that everyone and their brother should dole out advice, wait until it's more of someone asking. And if they complain more than a few times about a situaltion with their kid, that is more so along the line they are hinting for advice... Thats just my oppinion so love it or hate it... Or adapt it to what best works for you!  (Did ya see what i did there??! Lol)

An ointment for everything

So my poor kid has gone through the ringer with her skin head to toe. Horrible cradle cap that went down her face and in her ears and a red itchy rash from her face down! After a few doctor appointments, and a ton of other creams, lotions (rx amd otc), soaps, body wash, shampoos the doctor suggested aquaphor ointment. It seemed to help with her rash but moreso with her cradle cap. The on her four month check up they suggested she may have a milk allergy.  Winner winner chicken dinner! We switched her formula to Nutramigen by enfamil and within 2 days her skin mostly cleared up (still a couple stubborn spots on her legs that she keeps scratching (thank goodness for mittens!)). Down side, she got the worst diaper rash i have ever seen! And mind you, she never had diaper rash until the formula switch. I tried desitin (a few strengths) but that seemed to make it worse. I tried nystatin and that seemed to help just a little. Frustrated i said "eff it, why not" and put the aquaphor ointment on her bum, i mean she was getting it everywhere else why not the hinny too?! Let me tell you, we went from crying at every diaper change with bright red all over and sore weeping/bleeding spots to just red/pink with one weepy spot and no bleeding in just 24 hours! Now it's back to fun diaper changes with a happy smiling girl playing with her feet. Moral of the story? Aquaphor ointment is a baby necessity thats good for just about everything!

first trimester screening

We went for our first trimester screening today.  It went well! My Lil Bean is growing just how she should be and no issues! My uterus is still in a heart shape! Just goes to show much I love this kid already!

I made my appointment for the second trimester screening! June 27th we get to find out of Lil Bean is a girl or a boy!  I'm so excited I can't stand it!  My husband is hoping for a boy, but I have a gut feeling that we're having a little girl!  I guess we'll see in just over a month!

telling Oma

Since I was about, oh... 12 years old my Oma (Grandmother in German) has been asking me "so when will you make me a Great-Grandmother?!" Now, don't get me wrong, she wasn't asking me to get pregnant at the age of 12, but she was definitely planting the seed of growing up and getting married and having kids ASAP! lol

Since it was her birthday on Friday, the 5th my parents and I decided this would be a cute way to tell her.  A birthday cake that says "Happy Birthday Uroma" (Uroma meaning Great-Grandmother in German).

Don't you just love how it's decorated?!  I would be lying if I didn't say i was disappointed about not having the camera ready for her reaction, which was priceless by the way! She screamed and cried and was soooooo happy! It was amazing, so much love from my family that it is heart warming!

first ultrasound

I went to my ultrasound today. Since my periods had not regulated since getting off the pill, we weren't sure how far along I was or if we would see anything during this ultrasound. After gagging down all that water and trying not to pee myself during the long ride to the ultrasound place, we were pleasantly surprise to the out come! It's my first picture of my Lil Bean

My next surprise was to find out that I was already at 7 weeks 5 days! Sheesh! I turned into one of "those" women who was pregnant and didn't know it for almost 2 months! I wanted to smack myself upside the head but with irregular periods how was I supposed to know I was late with one?!

PS don't you just love how my uterus is in the shape of a heart?  Guess this Lil Bean really was made with love <3 lol

Happened faster than planned

Well, there you have it! What a shock I had when i thought i had my first hangover in YEARS! We celebrated my husbands 30th birthday on a Friday night and we partied hard.
Waking up Saturday morning feeling sluggish and just all around blah, my first thought was, "ugh a hangover?! Really?! :( ". So as i went on with my day i felt a bit better. Sunday, i woke up a little queazy and super tired again and thought this was the hangover that just won't quit!
Of course Sunday-funday we had a lot planned! We had a bunch of people over riding dirtbikes and i was finally getting to shoot some clay birds with my awesome christmas present from my hubby (yes, he bought me a shotgun for christmas and i love gim for it! Some girls ask for jewelry, i ask for another shiney thing!) i had no energy to ride and i wasn't too into shooting, what i really wanted to do was crawl back in bed and sleep all day!
So, monday morning i get up for work still feeling pretty cruddy. I sit down at my computer and start munching on my cereal when all of a sudden... My hand flies over my mouth and i beat feet to the bathroom making it just in time to throw up everything i have ever eaten (ok, ok... Maybe that's just a little dramatic, but it sure felt that way!). After wiping the sweat off my forehead, i stand up and start brushing my teeth... Midway, mouth full of toothpaste, it dawns on me! "Holy sh!t... No, i couldn't... Could I?!"
Ok, we need to do a little back story. The end of December we decided i would go off my birthcontrol pill and if it happens, it happens but weren't going to do anything different. No crazy possitons no ovulation tests, no legs in the air, ect. After my pack was done, that was it. January period was late coming but the doctor said that was normal, it could take up to 3 cycles to regulate. February was late too but came, or so i thought. So when March rolled around I didn't think about it being late!
Ok, back to today... I grab a pregnancy test and do my buisness. For some reason i still didn't quite believe it would happen so fast, so I'm still in "denial". Well, a few minutes later up pops the results, pregnant clearly stated. WHAT?!
Then the roller coasterof emotions happened... OMG YAY!!! Crap i didn't thing it would happen so soon... F!CK I've BEEN DRINKING!!! That last one got me so in tears i call my mom crying my eyes out thinking my kid is going to have fetal alcohol syndrom.  She calms me down and tells me it's going to be ok and to call the doctor and tell my husband. I call the doctor then call my hisband. Not sure how he'll take it i ask him if he's sitting down, he freaks out and asked me whats going on (apparentlyasking if someone is sitting down is only fot bad news, oops!) so i tell him and he's shocked, "so soon?" Was his next question, lol. Who knew that after atopping the pill that after your first cycle you could get pregnant? Not us, thars for sure!
